Good writers without publishers

I know there are a lot of us out there raring to go and be published. How many sites have you looked up?  How many publishers have you contacted and how many times have you considered self-publishing. Let's be realistic.  Agents and publishers usually don't want to take a chance on us. Who has told you that you were a good writer.  Not just yourself, I hope.

Looking at all of these questions, I want to know what will you do next, and what your opinion is of certain sites like writersmarket etc. Do you have any new ideas?  Is it possible for us to unite and use that to publish?

Good writers everywhere, give me ideas and opinions, please. Let's do our best to help one another.
